Decriminalize Nature Philadelphia is an IRS-registered 501(c)(4) grassroots lobbying organization dedicated to providing information resources related to the responsible and informed use of psychedelics/entheogens and advocating for policy change regarding their effective legal status insofar as it concerns the City of Philadelphia.

1. Legal Status:
-
Its critical to understand that--with exemptions for some legally recognized religious groups--the use, possession, and distribution of natural psychedelics/entheogens would still remain subject to legal action by state (with the exception of Colorado) or federal authorities as well as potentially by local authorities who determined that a particular activity was not protected under the resolution we are lobbying the Philadelphia City Council to pass. Visitors to this website and especially grassroots advocates should understand these important distinctions between decriminalization at the local level vs. legalization at the state or federal level. Cities do not have the power to legalize, only to decriminalize/de-prioritize.

2. Personal Responsibility:
-
Visitors to this website must recognize that any decisions regarding the use of psychedelics or related substances are entirely the responsibility of the individual.
-
We strongly discourage in the use of psychedelics by minors, individuals with a history of mental health issues--especially but not necessarily limited to schizophrenia or bipolar disorder--or in unsuitable environments. People who are taking anti-depressants should research best practices regarding whether it is safe to remain on them; if so, at what dosage; and how to safely reduce dosage if necessary. Those with heart conditions should also exercise greater caution.

3. Professional Consultation:
-
If you are considering the use of psychedelics for therapeutic, spiritual, or personal reasons, we recommend consulting with a qualified healthcare professional, therapist, and/or counselor experienced in psychedelic-assisted therapy or similar modalities.
-
